Horse Racing Activities

Potter Group directors James and Debbie Potter have held a long and distinguished interest in the equestrian field.

The company own and manage a dynamic equestrian team of National Hunt racehorses, and our drive and focus to deliver success in this arena is an ethos we carry throughout the rest of our business. Our horses run in company livery and promote the Group at national events.

The equestrian division is complemented by our innovative carpet fibre product, Canter Carpet, which recycles synthetic carpet fibres into all-weather equestrian surfaces.

Potter Group’s roster currently includes 25 racehorses, each competing nationally and trained by some of the country’s most accomplished trainers.

Carpet Recycling

Potter Group has been at the forefront of carpet recycling for many years, and our vision is to make a significant contribution to reducing the 400,000 tonnes of carpet waste created annually in the UK.

The Group uses advanced technologies and equipment to process recycled carpet materials into high-performance equestrian surfaces, selecting the best quality synthetic carpets by hand to be shredded and processed through a magnetic machine to remove all metal and other contaminants.

The result is a clean, durable and weather-resistant product which will provide many more years of use as a high-performance equestrian surface.

Canter Carpet

Canter Carpet is a high-performance equestrian carpet surface which uses superior-quality recycled carpet fibres to provide a perfectly cushioned ride, whether on an arena, pen, turnout or gallop.

Made from synthetic carpet fibres which have been recycled and carefully processed from carpet waste collected by the Group’s recycling operations, Canter Carpet offers exceptional benefits to both the horse and rider.

Because the carpet fibres are entirely weather-resistant, they provide an affordable, low-maintenance alternative to waterlogged and frozen surfaces, sinking sand, muddy fields and icy concrete, and can be enjoyed year-round in all seasons.

Canter Carpet works perfectly on any porous surface, in many cases without requiring a membrane, and can be used either as a standalone surface on hard standing or concrete, or to top up an existing surface such as sand.

Visit the Canter Carpet website to find out why it is quickly gaining popularity as the equestrian surface of choice.
